Нов мой диалог със сърбин, вероятно вече изтрит от админа
Dimitrije Nikolić, Greek and Cirilic alphabets are two different things, it's a fact, and the first Slavic county had a crucial historical role at that time.
Now, I'm going to speak out my understanding, more or less speculations based on my knowledge of history and decades of observations. I'm not a professional historian, and actually am more interested in Cultural and Historical Heritage (which is my second Master's more than in History in the way the latter is now).
Probably, Bulgaria as the first strong Slavic county, contributed to the being of the other Slavic countries similarly to how mighty Russia did it in more recent centuries, especially regarding the Balkan Slavic countries, and not only Slavic ones. They now exist thanks to its the Russian intervention/ wars, because the great powers and the British empire in particular seem to had bet on and support Ottoman empire...
In the Middle Ages, Bulgaria was like a second pole in the region, which was positive in many senses, but at the same time must have been negative, if the constant Bysantian-Bulgatian rivalry and wars contributed to the unfortunate centuries-long Turkish yoke... Regretably, the same applies to Bulgarian- Serbian relations at that time. Has there even been any significant cooperation between the two Slavic neighbours in the Middle ages? I can't remember such one. And during the liberation from Ottoman yoke on the Balkans in the 19th century, as it seems to me, Serbian rulers regarded Bulgarian territory as a cake to be grabbed as bigger part of as possible... Serbia was stronger than Bulgaria having had the advantages to be geographically further from the center of. Ottoman power and to get it's liberation decades earlier. And also there were great powers that started playing the Serbian card against Bulgaria as a way to keep Russia away from the Balkans....
Now, the Serbian attitudes send to be the same though, unfortunately. No real "Slavic brothers", and they even keep on thinking of reason why Bulgarians aren't their Slavic brothers (e.g. they are not So as Vs, but Tatars, Mongols, Huns/Uygurds or whatever, and NMacefonian Bulgarians aren't Bulgarians, and even Bulgarian Shops are not Bulgarians (but Serbs)), etc. ...
I suspect, it's not just in relation to Bulgaria; but to other neighbours too., I.e. a matter s mentality and character. Serbians don't have brothers, they have interests.
In this context, probably Serbian cognitive dissonance makes many Serbs deny important parts of Bulgarian history and contribution to human civilization, and even Bulgarians at all.
